The Fathom is a handmade wristband used to measure the length the catch and  is worn around the wrist. The Fathom is a band made of suede leather cord and has a magnetic clasp. The lengths are indicated by silver beads and between the larger ones are 10 cm, and the smaller ones are 5 cm. The three letters on the Fathom are used to indicate the following: X stands for the zero mark; R is equal to the 70 cm mark and indicates the maximum length for release, and M stands for one meter.
