The Fathom is a handmade tool for measuring the length of a catch (fish) and the angler wears around the wrist. The Fathom is a band made of suede and has a magnetic lock. The unit lengths are indicated by pearls and between the larger ones are 10 cm, and the silver ones are 5 cm. The three letters on the Fathom are used to indicate the following: X stands for the zero mark; R is equal to the 70 cm mark and indicates the maximum length for release, and M stands for one meter.
